Haiku on dogs

Here are four haiku about dogs. My current dog is Milo, a mongrel I adopted from the Multnomah County Animal Shelter.

The haiku follow the traditional pattern of five syllables in the first and third lines, and seven in the second.

1.
On our daily walks
My dog sniffs at everything
Checking message boards

2.
Dogs age so quickly
Seven years for each of ours
Showing us the way

3.
My old sleeping dog
Chases rabbits in his dreams
He is young again

4.
The abyss looms dark
Uncertainty rides the wind
My dog comforts me
