Center for Sustainable Pornography

Sustainability is a common theme among businesses, colleges and universities, and non-profits. It is cited as an important response to climate change, particularly as the news often has dire stories about such catastrophes as rising CO2 levels, melting ice caps, and widespread famine. Always looking for opportunities to increase their market share, whether in sales, grants, or student enrollment, many such organizations have been promoting themselves as leaders in the new “green” economy. Their website advertisements, Facebook pages, and news releases are larded with the empty phrases that have become part the lingo of sustainability.

I came up with the idea of The Center for Sustainable Pornography (CSP) as a parody of the sort of language brutalization that is a symptom of “greenwashing.”

The Center for Sustainable Pornography (CSP)

Here at the CSP, we strive to create innovative solutions to humanity’s age-old problem of becoming sexually excited and fulfilled.  Our products are humanely hand-crafted from renewable materials by professionals schooled in the sensual arts.

We are a worker-owned company, organized in the spirit of the classic Spanish anarchist cooperatives. Our skilled staff includes not only veterans of the adult entertainment industry who have committed themselves to the mission of offering true sustainability of the highest level to the world of pornography, but also talented amateurs who bring their ideals and bodies to the mission of our organization.

The vast experience of our devoted employees and non-hierarchical organization allow the CSP to create sensual products, photographs, and videos designed to appeal not only to the most discriminating salacious tastes but also to an ethos of humanely maintaining traditional erotic principles in the face of corporate-industrial hegemony and catastrophic climate change. The result is not just an array of titillating erotic aids but a product line deliberately designed to “sustain” sexual excitement.

The CSP adheres to these core values:

    • Involve all stakeholders in group activities
    • Encourage people to eat locally in creative settings
    • Seek new methods to collaborate using state-of-the-art technologies
    • Strategize on how to make relationships firm and longstanding
    • Embolden alternatives to traditional relationships, exploring opportunities among various races, age groups, and genders
    • Bring people together in innovative ways
    • Bolster imaginative interactions
    • Adapt traditional methods for new opportunities of engagement while honoring and enhancing traditional techniques and positions that comply with our own unparalleled standards for sustainability

Microbrew labels and websites for college sustainability programs are a rich source of similar phrases and buzzwords.

  1. Excellent… Count me in…! One exception, of which I know you are already aware: Excerpt: “There are two things about which Chouinard is very consistent: his pessimism and his distain for green business lingo. “I hate the word sustainability because whatever we’re doing to clean up our act, it’s not working,”” https://tinyurl.com/y9lmxv85
